10GigEthr-03 (iocxgbe) B.11.31.1103.01 Ethernet Driver Release Notes

4 Known problems and limitations
The following problems are known to exist in version B.11.31.1103.01:
Problems occur when using SNAP (Sub-Network Access Protocol) encapsulation with VLANs.
(QXCR1001061473)
Severity: Medium
SNAP encapsulation enables protocols such as TCP/IP to use an IEEE802.3 SNAP header.
This protocol works correctly for non-VLAN devices. For VLAN devices, when a minimum size
SNAP packet is received and the VLAN tag is removed, the device incorrectly flags the packet
as undersized and discards it.
Workaround: None. This problem might be corrected in a future release of the 10GigEthr-03
bundle.
Incomplete device configuration in a blade environment causes device initialization failures.
(QXCR1001092232)
When an NC551m is configured with a VC-capable interconnect module but all functions
are not defined in the VC profile, some Ethernet functions might be configured incorrectly and
will be unusable. NWMGR shows these functions having a zero MAC address with a “link
down status. This problem might occur in multi-blade system configurations, typically COP2
systems, and only on the monarch blade.
This problem will be corrected in a future release of the 10GigEthr-03 bundle.
Workaround: Configure all functions with the VC manager in the system profile.
Multi-queue operation is not available on all functions.
Severity: Medium
Multi-queue enables traffic to be partitioned across CPUs. This device supports only receive
multi-queue operation. Multiple queues are supported only on the primary function for each
port: function 0 (port 0) and function 1 (port 1).
The iocxgbe driver sets the default number of receive queues for each of these functions to
1. This default might change in a future release. The number of queues for each remaining
function is 1 and will remain at 1.
5 Compatibility and installation requirements
This section describes the compatibility information and installation requirements for this release.
5.1 Operating system and version compatibility
This release is specific for HP-UX 11i v3, Application Release B.11.31.1009 or later.
5.2 Hardware requirements
This version of 10GigEthr-03 runs on HP Integrity BL8x0c i2 server blades with the HP-UX 11i v3
(B.11.31) operating system. To support profile migration on NC551m adapters, Virtual Connect
(VC) firmware version 3.17 is required. VC 3.17 is expected to be available in April 2011.
