NOTE: This patch is not required on Netware platforms. The issue does not exist on Data Protector
Express installations on Netware.
Minimum System Requirements
Memory
256 MB RAM required above operating system and application requirements. Recommended:
512 MB RAM (or more for better performance) above operating system and application
requirements.
Disk space
400 MB hard disk space required for Data Protector Express (typical installation). The Data Protector
Express catalog requires additional space. HP recommends that you select a different hard drive
for the Data Protector Express catalog than the hard drive used for the application when you install
Data Protector Express on the machine that will serve as the Backup Server. RAID protected disks
are also recommended. For the Data Protector Express catalog and disaster recovery images,
additional disk drive space of 20 GB is recommended.
Minimum video settings
1024 x 768 Resolution, 256 colors.
Windows internet browser
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher.
NOTE: In case IE 6 or greater is not installed, Data Protector Express can still install the program.
There will be an error message, but the program items can be created manually or launch the GUI
from dpadmin.exe.
Storage hardware compatibility
Data Protector Express supports all major storage hardware technologies and requires at least one
storage media drive and/or library and the appropriate controller card. You can set up a Data
Protector Express Virtual Library on a general purpose disk.
NOTE: Maintain version consistency for all machines and options in the Data Protector Express
Domain. Always install the same version or service pack on each machine for which you have a
license or are running Data Protector Express in evaluation mode. See Automatic version upgrade
of other machines in the Backup Domain below for details.
