HP StorageWorks Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 Installation and User Guide

A7. Before installing the Storage Management Pack in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for a 64-bit
operating system, you must install a Microsoft Hotfix 942589 from Microsoft download site.
http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHotfix.aspx?kbnum=942589&kbln=en-us
Q8. I am not able to see anything after creating the View with target as SNMP Trap Catcher Discovery.
A8. Check if the SNMP Trap Catcher rule in the authoring pane is disabled. If it is disabled, enable
the rule.
Q9. I have created the view with Object as SNMP Trap Catcher Discovery in the OpsMgr console.
I could see some Events\Alerts from the monitoring device but not in readable format.
A9. If you are using the Microsoft Windows Server 2003, open the command prompt and navigate
to this folder: ../windows/system32/wbem/snmp.
If you are using Microsoft Windows Server 2008, open the command prompt and navigate to this
folder:../windows/SysWOW64/wbem/snmp.
Run the command smi2smir/l to get a list of .mib files registered in WMI. If you are not able to
find .mib files registered, reinstall the HP Storage Management Pack and also check if the installed
management pack kit supports the installed version of the Windows operating system.
Q10. I have installed and imported the management pack. I am Getting SNMP alerts but I am getting
a lot of Alerts from Agent computers about the WMI failure. After importing the management pack,
I am getting Alerts from multiple Agent computers about the WMI failure.
A10. A simple fix is to Override the HP Storage Trap Catcher" Rule in the Operations Manager
console for a group (a user-defined group) you have created which includes the systems you are
explicitly trying to monitor. Note that these are the systems you have configured to receive the traps
from the storage devices and device management software, not necessarily the storage devices or
systems running the device management software.
From management pack version 1.5.3 we have disabled the rule completely. This is done so that the
issue does not occur due to non availability of WMI SNMP provider installation on the discovered
machines. The rule has to be enabled for required groups.
Q11. I am using HP Storage Works Management Pack v1.8 for Monitoring EVA alerts. Events sent
from the WEBES are not reaching the OpsMgr server.
A11. There is a known compatibility issue with WEBES v5.4, ISEE v5, and the WEBESListener v1.2.
WEBES v5.5 resolves this issue.
Q12. I am using HP Storage Management Pack for Monitoring EVA alerts. Events sent from WEBES
does not reach OpsMgr and the WebesListenerlog.log file grows very large.
A12. We have released a customer advisory on this issue. You can download this from the following
website: http://saw.cce.hp.com/km/saw/view.do?docId=emr_na-c01581401.
Q13. On the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 platform, while uninstalling HP StorageWorks
Management Pack v1.6.0 or earlier, the MIBs are not unregistered during uninstallation. The
unregistration of the MIBs does not cause any system issue.
A13. To uninstall the MIBs manually, perform the following tasks:
Launch the command prompt with elevated administrative privileges ("Run as administrator")
Go to the installation folder and run the following command:
cmd smi2smir /d mib_name
Q14. I have HP StorageWorks Management Pack 1.5.3 imported into OpsMgr 2007. When I try
to manually upgrade it with version v1.6.0 or later, it displays an error.
