HP StorageWorks Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 Installation and User Guide

4. Right-click the HP Storage Trap Catcher rule and select Overrides > Override the Rule. Select any
one from the following options:
For all objects of type: HP Storage SNMP Trap Catcher discovery.
For a particular group (for example, Management Server Computer Group, Agent Managed
Computer Group).
For a specific object of the type: HP Storage SNMP Trap Catcher discovery (for specific objects
discovered by the SNMP Trap Catcher rule).
For all objects of another type (for example, Agent, Windows computer, Windows client).
Override the rule for a particular Management Server Computer Group (a group that includes all
OpsMgr servers as members). The rule is activated at the OpsMgr server, and SNMP traps are
received. After selecting the group, select the override property and change the override setting from
False to True. Once the override setting is changed, save it to the Management Pack.
NOTE:
It is recommended to save the override settings to a Custom Management Pack instead of the Default
Management Pack. This will avoid creating dependency between Default Management Pack and HP
Storage Management Pack.
Configuring the Management Pack for Processing WMI
Events\Alerts
NOTE:
To receive events and alerts through WMI for E5000 Messaging System/X5000 System, configure
the HP Storage Management Pack to process the WMI events and alerts. This option is disabled by
default and requires manual creation of an Override Rule in the OpsMgr.
By default, the following two rules are disabled for E5000 Messaging System:
HP E5000 Chassis WMI Event Catcher
HP E5000 Cascade WMI Event Catcher
By default, the following two rules are disabled for X5000 System:
HP X5000 Chassis WMI Event Catcher
HP X5000 Cascade WMI Event Catcher
Select only one blade server from E5000 Messaging System to avoid duplicate events.
If the HP Storage Management Pack is imported into OpsMgr 2007 to receive events from the E5000
Messaging System/X5000 System to OpsMgr 2007:
1. Open the OpsMgr console.
2. Click the Authoring tab to display the Authoring console. In the Authoring console, click Rules.
