What Is in This Version
The A.04.00.02 version of HA Monitors for HP-UX 11i v1 operating system runs on the PA
platform.
HA Monitors contains a suite of monitors. Among them, MIB Monitor is used for monitoring
the availability of LAN interface.
Libraries of all HA Monitors are available as PA libraries.
Using the EMS graphical user interface (GUI), EMS command-line interface or the
Serviceguard, you can configure more than one monitoring request for each HA Monitor. For
example, you can send a notification to the syslog file with one value and also send an email
message with a different value.
HA Monitors can be used with enterprise system management software, such as HP
OpenView.
To work with HA Monitors using the EMS GUI, complete the following steps:
1. Log on to the system as root. and enter sam to launch SAM. In SAM, double-click on the
Resource Management icon, and then double-click on the Event Monitoring Service icon to
invoke EMS.
2. Type sam at the HP-UX prompt to launch SAM.
3. In SAM, double-click on the Resource Management icon.
4. Now, double-click on the Event Monitoring Service icon to invoke EMS.
5. Use the EMS GUI to configure a monitoring request to warn you before a system failure.
This warning gives you time to take action to prevent application downtime.
To work with HA Monitors using the EMS Command Line Interface (CLI):
1. Log on to the system as root .
2. Execute the /opt/resmon/bin/emscli command with the appropriate option at the
HP-UX command-line prompt.
For more information, type man 1m emscli at the HP-UX prompt.
To work with HA Monitors using the Serviceguard or Serviceguard Extension for RAC:
Through Serviceguard or Serviceguard Extension for RAC, you can configure HA
Monitor’s resource as part of a package dependency. If the resource fails, Serviceguard
may restart the package on the local system or on an alternate system.
