High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes Announcement Announcement High Availability Monitors (B5736DA) A.04.20 is being released for use on the Itanium-2 based platform and PA-RISC platform with the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system. The following high availability monitors are included in this bundle: • HA Disk Monitor - It checks the status of LVM managed disks and detects disconnected buses, power-failed or missing disks, and stale or missing mirrors.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes What’s in This Version What’s in This Version The A.04.20 version of High Availability Monitors (HA Monitors) for HP-UX 11i v2 operating system runs on PA-RISC and Itanium 2-based platforms. In this release, HA Monitors supports the Node and Host Name Expansion feature, which is available on the software pack. This feature provides you with the ability to set nodes and host names upto 255 characters. HA Monitors contains a suite of monitors.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes What’s in This Version Using EMS GUI, EMS CLI or Serviceguard, you can configure more than one monitoring request for each HA Monitor. For example, you may want to send a notification to syslog with one value and also send an e-mail message with another value. All HA Monitors can be used with enterprise system management software such as HP OpenView.

High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Only Oracle database monitored when both Oracle and Informix databases installed on same system • What is the problem? Both Oracle and Informix have their own RDBMS MIB subagents, and each has its own proprietary method of instrumenting the MIB. The HA Database Monitor relies on values in the MIB to monitor the databases and database servers.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes Known Problems and Workarounds Resource instance /rdbms/server/peak_connects/ is invalid • What is the problem? peak_connects represents the greatest number of simultaneous connections to the database server since the server started. It is currently is not being incremented. • What is the workaround? Monitor a different resource.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements The HA Monitors software must be installed on each node that you want to monitor. If you want to monitor the management station, then HA Monitors must be installed on the management station also. Compatibility with HP-UX Releases HA Monitors version A.04.20 runs on the HP-UX 11i v2 operating system only.
High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes Compatibility Information and Installation Requirements Requirements for Database Monitor Users: The Database Monitor is supported for the Oracle Enterprise Server version 9.2 and Informix version 9.3. Before you begin to monitor your database services, you must install the following components: • For Oracle: — Oracle Net9 (for networking) — Oracle Intelligent Agent (for SNMP support) and any patches.

High Availability Monitors Version A.04.20 Release Notes EMS and EMS HA Monitors Patch Strategy EMS and EMS HA Monitors Patch Strategy EMS is provided through releases and patches. EMS patch will contain HA Monitors patch as well. EMS uses PHSS_ prefix for patches. A new release contains new EMS and EMS HA Monitors features as well as fixes for known problems. For a new release of EMS and EMS HA Monitors, the following is guaranteed: • Full release testing is performed prior to release.
