Cannot conﬁgure a blank nickname

Nicknamescannotbeleftblank. Ifnonicknamehasbeenconﬁgured yet, the user can

select cancel to leave a nickname blan k. Once a nickname has been conﬁgured, it

cannot be change

d to be blank, tha t is, the nickname cannot be deleted. The nickname

can be assigned a new name.

Support for speed Auto-Negotiate

Auto-negotiate is supported. However, HP recommends that the por t speed for E_ Por ts

(for Interswitch Links, or ISLs) be set to a speciﬁcportspeed(1Gb/sec or 2Gb/sec,as

appropriate for the speed of the directors or edge switches being connected) instead

of to Negotiate.Usingaspeciﬁc port speed decreases the time for a fabric build in

response to some perturbation event in the fabric. Similarly, setting a speciﬁcportspeed

for N_Ports also decreases fabric build time. However, setting a speciﬁcportspeedfor

N_Portsisnotrequired.

There are a few older HBA devices that do not always succeed in logging in to a switch

port when the port speed is set for auto-negotiate.

Workaround

If an older HBA has difﬁcultyloggingintoaswitchportthathasitsportspeed

conﬁgured as Negotiate,conﬁgure that por t speed to 1Gb/sec or 2Gb/sec according to

the operation speed of the HBA connected to that port.
