Management through a PC-based Telnet session using the command line
interface (CLI). Any platform that supports Telnet client software can be used.
HAFM Server Information
The HAFM server provides a central point of control for managed Fibre Channel
products. The HAFM server is required for installing, configuring, and managing
these products.
Note: Although products can perform normal operations without an HAFM server, the
HAFM server should operate at all times to monitor product operations, report failures,
log event changes, and log configuration changes.
High Availability Fabric Manager Overview
This section provides a general overview of the HAFM features.
Accessing HAFM on the 1U Rack-Mount Server
You can log in to HAFM located on the rack-mount server from a browser-capable
PC connected through an Ethernet LAN segment. Use the following steps:
1. Ensure the HAFM server and a browser-capable PC are connected through an
Ethernet LAN segment. At the PC, launch the browser application (Netscape
Navigator
or Internet Explorer).
2. At the PC browser, enter the IP address of the HAFM server for the HAFM
LAN to which the PC is connected (LAN 1 or LAN 2), followed by :5800.
Enter the URL in the following format:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5800
Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the default IP address or the IP address
configured for the server during installation. The VNC Authentication screen
displays (Figure 2).
