Term Definition
Management Node
CMU is installed and runs from the Administration Disk, which is
typically mounted on the Management Node. Typically, the
management node is also the image server.
Site alias IP address In a CMU Serviceguard configuration, a unique IP address on the
site network to connect to the CMU management cluster. The address
the GUI connects to this address. This unique address is configured
on only one of the two management servers at a time.
Private alias IP
address
In a CMU Serviceguard configuration, a unique IP address by which
the CMU management cluster is known to the CMU compute cluster.
This unique address is configured on only one of the two
management servers at a time.
Package In the Serviceguard terminology, a service which run under control of
Serviceguard.
CMU package In the CMU Serviceguard configuration, CMU runs as a
Serviceguard package.

Unless otherwise noted, press the Return or Enter key after entering commands

The following conventions are used in this guide:

Conventions Description
# A pound sign (#) is the default superuser prompt.
% A percent sign (%) is the default user prompt.
<Return> A boxed symbol indicates that the user must press the named key on
the keyboard.
Ctrl/C This symbol indicates that the user must press the Ctrl key while he
simultaneously presses another key (in this case, C).
% cat In interactive examples, typed user input appears in a bold
typeface. Bold typeface is also used to emphasize important words
or phrases.
Monospaced or italics In text, this typeface indicates the exact name of a command,
routine, partition, pathname, directory, or file. This typeface is also
used in interactive examples and other screen displays.
UPPERCASE, lowercase Linux differentiates between lowercase and uppercase characters.
Literal strings that appear in text, examples, syntax descriptions, and
function definitions must be typed exactly as shown.
[y] In a prompt, square brackets indicate that the enclosed item is the
default response. For example, [y] means the default response is Yes.
