1 About this product HP Insight Cluster Management Utility (CMU) is HP's hyperscale cluster lifecycle management software, providing GUI-based control and display of a cluster as a single entity. HP Insight CMU enables cluster-frictionless management and cloning, and offers zoom-out displays of cluster health and performance metrics. A Linux CLI is available for script-based automation and integration with other Linux tools. 1.1 Operating system support HP Insight CMU v7.
2 New and changed features in this release NOTE: For more details on new and changed features, see the "HP Insight Cluster Management Utility v7.1 User Guide" available at www.hp.com/go/cmu. 2.1 Full support for HP Moonshot 1500 systems HP Insight CMU v7.1 fully supports HP Moonshot 1500 systems with HP iLO Chassis Manager (CM) BMC. Support requires a special SKU part number with a per-chassis licensing model. For standard rack and Blade servers, per-node licensing is still valid. 2.
• Add mpower support to cmu_power. Provide mpower scripts for HP iLO CM. • New -a and -m options to cmu_del_user_group allow interaction with the history database. • New commands cmu_show_archived_user_groups and cmu_del_archived_user_groups. • New command cmu_del_snapshots. • The cmu_scan_macs command is updated to: ◦ Support improved name generation using name patterns. ◦ Enable reading BMC addresses to be scanned from a file. ◦ Ability to specify mulitple BMC addresses on the command line.
2.7 Monitoring Intel coprocessors The new cmu_config_intel utility is added to configure Intel coprocessor monitoring in HP Insight CMU. 2.
3 Bug fixes The following bugs are fixed in HP Insight CMU v7.1: Backup and cloning • Remove leftover mtab~ files from chroot before starting backup on the golden client. • Set partition archive file permissions to 0600. • Wait for the disk device to settle to possibly avoid cloning failures experienced on some nodes having large SAS disks and smart array controllers. • Clean leftover node entries from /etc/dhcpd.conf file on the management node after cloning.
4 Limitations and workarounds 4.1 HP iLO CM ssh/vsp connections are limited to 15 Each HP iLO CM zone allows up to 15 concurrent ssh/vsp sessions. To go beyond that limit, close old connections before starting new connections. Starting new ssh/vsp connections to HP iLO CM from the HP Insight CMU GUI or cmu_console tool can be slow, resulting in connection timeout errors. To eliminate these errors, increase the CMU_CONSOLE_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT value in /opt/cmu/etc/cmuserver.conf. 4.
4.7 Red Hat 5 update 7 and 8 rsync bug impacts diskless The rsync executable delivered with rh5u7 (package: rsync-3.0.6-4.el5) and rh5u8 does not work properly with the command rsync -e ssh. This command causes a failure when creating a diskless logical group.
