HP Insight Control for Linux 6.0 Release Notes

2.2.2 Maintaining the association between the BMC and ProLiant DL100 G5 series
server in SIM (BMC firmware <3.11)
NOTE: This release note applies only to DL100 G5 series servers with BMC firmware earlier
than version 3.11.
DL100 G5 series servers with BMC firmware 3.11 and later do not exhibit this behavior.
To maintain the association between the BMC and a DL100 G5 series server after installation,
follow these steps:
IMPORTANT: You must perform the steps shown here regardless of whether or not the BMC
is on a private network.
1. Create an /etc/icelx/uuidformat directory on the installed node:
# mkdir -p /etc/icelx/uuidformat
2. Populate the directory with the same files and settings as those used during a bare metal
discovery.
If you are using Insight Control for Linux to install an OS on the server, it is recommended
that you make these changes from the Kickstart or AutoYaST files by adding lines such as
the following before the %%agentinstall%% macro:
mkdir -p /etc/icelx/uuidformat
echo "UUIDFORMAT=G6" >/etc/icelx/uuidformat/hostname1
echo "UUIDFORMAT=G6" >/etc/icelx/uuidformat/hostname2
In this example, replace hostname1 and hostname2 with valid host names.
2.3 Licensing notes
This section contains notes that apply to Insight Control for Linux licensing.
2.3.1 Insight Control for Linux license assigned to management processor
Be advised that Insight Control for Linux permits you to assign an Insight Control for Linux
license to an MP, which is not required.
2.3.2 Warning message: This system is already enabled
This message occurs when you try to apply a license to a system that is already enabled for the
product.
Corrective action: Deselect the system.
2.4 Discovery
This section contains notes about discovery.
2.4.1 Servers with NetXen gPXE NIC require DHCP modifications
A server with a NetXen gPXE 4.0.230 NIC will not accept an IP address from a Linux-based
dhcpd server, which causes problems with the discovery process.
Corrective action: Add the following lines to the /etc/dhcpd.conf file on the dhcpd server:
# gpxe options
option space gpxe;
option gpxe.no-pxedhcp code 176 = unsigned integer 8;
option gpxe-encap-opts code 175 = encapsulate gpxe;
option gpxe.priority code 1 = signed integer 8;
