HP Insight Control for Linux 6.0 Release Notes

2.8.1 Manage repository: Updating the kernel name and RAM disk name for a
custom OS
When you select OptionsManage Repository... and edit a custom OS, the Kernel name and
RAM disk name fields display the values you entered when you added the custom OS.
If you want to edit either of these values, you must:
1. Edit the /opt/repository/.icle/nameBoot.xml file, where name is the name of the
custom OS.
2. Change the values contained in the Kernel or Ramdisk elements.
2.8.2 Renaming a captured image does not change the name
When you change the name and description of a previously captured Linux image in the
repository, the old name and description is shown in the repository when you try to deploy the
image.
The image is not corrupted, and you can deploy it without any problems.
2.9 Linux OS installation notes
This section contains notes about installing operating systems on managed systems.
2.9.1 No files found error during custom OS installation
It is possible to use the DeployOperating SystemCustom or Other installation feature to
boot a managed system into a special purpose RAM disk without performing an OS installation.
For example, a specialized Linux rescue or troubleshooting RAM disk.
When using the Custom or Other tool to boot a kernel and RAM disk without the goal of
performing an OS installation, the user interface generates an error if no files are found in the
/opt/repository/custom/repository_name/ subdirectory used for installation source
files.
Corrective action: Log in to the CMS, navigate to the
/opt/repository/custom/repository_name/ subdirectory that was created for you, and
create two empty files to bypass the error:
# touch a b
You must create at least two files to work around the empty directory check.
2.10 PSP installation notes
This section contains notes about installing ProLiant Support Packs (PSPs) on managed systems.
2.10.1 Installation order matters for the hpsmh and hponcfg PSP components
Because of a known issue in the hpsmh (HP System Management Home Page) installer, you
cannot select and install the hpsmh component and the hponcfg (HP Lights-Out Online
Configuration Utility) component during the same PSP installation session.
Corrective action: Use the PSP installation tool to install the hpsmh component first. Then, during
a subsequent run of the PSP installation tool, install the hponcfg component.
