3.3 HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide and online help
The notes in this section apply to the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide. An HTML version
of the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide is used as the Insight Control for Linux online help.
3.3.1 Addition to Chapter 1, Using HP Insight Control for Linux
The following item is missing in the bullet list in Section 1.14.1, Integrated security features:
Privilege elevation
Privilege elevation is not supported by Insight Control for Linux, however, install, capture,
and deploy operations are unaffected by it because these functions interface directly with
the management processor and do not use SSH.
3.3.2 Addition to Chapter 3, Discovering managed systems, switches, and enclosures
Section 3.3.1 is missing the following NOTE:
NOTE: If you want to use a management processor password that is fewer than 8 characters,
you must first change the settings on the MP. Otherwise, an Insight Control for Linux bare-metal
discovery will hang.
3.3.3 Correction to Chapter 4, Installing and setting up managed systems
The NOTE in Section 4.2, Setting up management hubs, is incomplete. The full note should read
as follows:
NOTES:
Only servers running a supported version of RHEL or SLES can act as management hubs.
If the /hptc_cluster directory is exported, the operating system on each management
hub must have the same architecture type (that is, 64-bit or 32-bit) as the CMS. Otherwise,
you cannot view metric data from the hub nodes.
HP recommends the use of physical servers for use as management hubs.
