3.3.9 Correction to Chapter 22, Advanced topics
In section 22.2, Deploying WBEM provider components using Configure or Repair Agents task,
the topics that apply to RHEL 5.3 also apply to RHEL 5.4. Likewise, topics that apply to SLES 10
SP2 also apply to SLES 10 SP3.
3.3.10 Additions to Chapter 23, Troubleshooting
The following items are missing from Section 23.8, Troubleshooting discovery problems:
Corrective actionsCause/Symptom
Verify that the default global management processor
password has 8 or more characters, which is required
by the management processor.
If the password you specified has fewer than 8
characters, you can either a) change the setting on the
iLO to accept passwords with fewer than 8 characters
or b) use the ConfigureManagement
ProcessorCredentials to configure a new global
password of at least 8 characters.
MP password length issue can cause bare metal
discovery to fail
If the Bare Metal Discovery Post Processing task fails
during the Finalize IC-Linux Discovery
operation with the following error message:
Unable to add new user account.
Attempting to modify password for user.
Password modification failed.
Unable to add or update user account on
management processor.
Use a browser to verify access to the LO100i
management processor with the following command
to access its web page. SIM uses this command to
discover the LO100i MP; this command must succeed
before you can use Insight Control for Linux to
successfully discover the LO100i MP.
http://LO100i_IP_Address/xmldata?item=all
where LO100i_IP_Address is the IP address of the
LO100i MP.
If you cannot access the LO100 web page, verify that
the correct firewall ports are open on your CMS, as
specified in the HP Insight Control for Linux Installation
Guide.
Possible bare metal discovery issues with LO100i
servers
Insight Control for Linux cannot access an
LO100i-based management processor during bare
metal discovery; thus, the LO100i MP and server are
not correctly associated in SIM.
The following item is missing from Section 23.13, Troubleshooting monitoring problems:
