HP Insight Control for Linux 6.0 Release Notes

1.3.7.2 New Define networks and Network Configuration Editor tools
By defining a network with the Define Networks tool, you specify the common network
parameters, such as net mask, gateway, and so on, under a common name, called a “network”.
Later, you apply a network name to a server instead of entering all the network configuration,
thus saving time and effort.
The Network Configuration Editor is used to assign networking parameters to the servers that
will be booted using the virtual media mechanism; this ensures that the server's network is set
up properly when the server is booted using virtual media. These network parameters are similar
to those that would normally be set by DHCP; which virtual media does not use.
1.3.7.3 New Initiate Bare-Metal Discovery tool
This tool provides an additional, GUI-based method for initiating a bare-metal discovery of an
iLO-based management processor using either virtual media or PXE boot. You can initate
bare-metal discovery of serveral iLOs simultaneously with this tool.
You can also use this tool to initiate a bare-metal discovery of an LO100 management processor
using PXE boot.
1.3.7.4 New Configure Boot Method tool
This tool provides you with a means to change the boot method of a server (or servers) from
PXE to virtual media or vice versa.
1.3.8 Automated custom OS installation
This release of Insight Control for Linux provides a means for automating custom operating
system installations. Using an installation script, which you provide, the necessary kernel
parameters and auto install configuration file (for example, a Kickstart or AutoYaST file) can be
generated to facilitate an unattended installation. The installation script must be named
install_config and it must be located in the directory for the custom OS. For more
information, see the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide.
1.3.9 Performance Dashboard enhancements
The Live Monitor tool has been updated and renamed as the Performance Dashboard.
The display for each monitored managed system now optionally contains indicators for the
minimum, average, and maximum values of the specified metric.
1.3.10 Support for running Insight Control for Linux in a Xen virtual guest
This release supports running an Insight Control for Linux CMS in a Xen virtual machine
environment (that is, a Domain U guest on Xen hypervisor); it provides the same functionality
as a CMS on a physical machine. This includes installation, bare metal discovery, capturing and
deploying OS images, and other supported functions.
The virtual machine guest must fulfill the requirements of both an Insight Control for Linux
CMS and a virtual machine guest in order to manage it using SIM. For more information, see
the HP Insight Control for Linux Installation Guide
1.3.11 Insight Control power management
