• Remote repository
Using a remote repository can save on virtualized I/O and storage needs. This is an opportunity
to distribute the work load, allowing a file server to provide the OS install repository.
NOTE: Distributing the repository is not an advantage when installing ESXi hosts because
the entire distribution resides in the /opt/repository/boot directory, unlike RHEL, SLES,
or ESX installations.
• Disk space
When a virtual machine hosts the entire repository, it requires the full disk requirements of
Insight Control for Linux. The disk space requirements are not any different than a physical
server.
• Compartmentalizing functionality
You can tune a virtual machine guest to perform different functions. You use one virtual machine
guest as CMS and another as a file server, thus separating the two functions.

3.3 Verifying installation requirements
Table 2 lists Insight Control for Linux installation requirements. Before you begin the installation
process, verify that all requirements are satisfied.

When you purchase Insight Control for Linux licenses, you receive a license
entitlement package that describes how to retrieve your Insight Control for Linux
license key.
License keys
If you have not already done so, follow the license redemption instructions to
retrieve and activate the license keys.
In addition to this installation guide, you must have the following documents
available to complete an installation:

NOTE: To view or download the documents in the Insight Control for Linux

The server you choose to be the CMS and all ProLiant servers you want to
manage with Insight Control for Linux must be listed as supported hardware
models in the HP Insight Control for Linux Support Matrix.
