HP Insight Control for Linux 7.1 Installation Guide

2
Select the device name that corresponds to the CMS management interface. The
CMS management interface is the Ethernet adapter that is used for communication
between the CMS and the managed systems.
3
Enter the number of the TCP port that you want to use for the Insight Control for Linux
repository web server; the default is port 60000. If another service is already using
that port, you are prompted for another entry.
4
Do not use multi-byte characters or the following characters in the MP user name and
password: ampersand (&), left angle bracket (<), right angle bracket (>), at sign (@),
back quote – also known as a single left quote (`), dollar sign ($), double quote (“),
and percent sign (%).
The default setting on an iLO MP accepts passwords equal to or greater than eight
characters in length. If you want to use a password that contains less than eight
characters, you must change the setting on the iLO. In addition, there are restrictions
on LO100 passwords: any characters over 16 characters are ignored.
6
You must enter root as the Systems Insight Manager user name, and you must enter
the root password.
5
After you have successfully run the install.sh script, you must always use the
same collection name if you ever rerun the script. In this release, HP does not support
changing the collection name after the install.sh script completes.
7
See Table 11 (page 37) for the reasons for exporting the /hptc_cluster file
system to the management hub servers.
8
If you answer y to configure the CMS as a DHCP server, you are prompted to supply
the DHCP configuration information listed in Table 12 (page 40).
If you answer n to use a pre-existing DHCP server, see Chapter 4 (page 27), which
describes DHCP configuration requirements for Insight Control for Linux.
See Appendix B (page 80) for a sample of the remainder of the output that is generated by
the installation script.
5.5 Synchronizing the Insight Management MIB update kit and SPP or PSP
versions (optional)
This task is optional.
The Insight Management MIB (Management Information Block) update kit for Systems Insight
Manager for Linux contains all the necessary MIB files to update Systems Insight Manager or any
other MIB tool to have the current support for ProLiant servers.
TIP: A best practice is to keep the MIB and SPP or PSP versions synchronized for all components
and tools that use them.
HP recommends that you download and install the MIB that corresponds to the version of the SPP
or PSP supported by this release so that Systems Insight Manager recognizes alerts from the
hardware. The SPP and PSP contain drivers for the hardware.
To download the MIB update kit, see the following website:

5.6 Viewing installation log files
For your information, a record of the installation process is stored in the following log files:
