6.2 Logging in to Systems Insight Manager
To log in and launch Systems Insight Manager and Insight Control for Linux, follow these steps:
1. Open a recent version of a supported web browser (Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet
Explorer are supported).
NOTE: Supported web browser versions are listed in the HP Insight Control for Linux Support
Matrix.
2. Enter the following web address. The web address includes either the fully qualified host name
of the CMS or the IP address of the CMS management interface, plus the Systems Insight
Manager port (port 280) as follows:
http://{CMS_fq_hostname} | {CMS_IP_address}:280
For example, if the fully qualified host name of the CMS is earth.example.com and its
external IP address is 192.0.2.1, enter one of the following addresses:
http://earth.example.com:280/
http://192.0.2.1:280
3. Log in to Systems Insight Manager when the login screen appears. Use the new administrative
user credentials you created in Section 6.1, or log in as root with the root password.
The first time a user with administrative privileges connects to Systems Insight Manager, the
First Time Wizard presents a series of configuration screens.
6.3 Using the First Time Wizard to configure Systems Insight Manager
This task is required if you installed Systems Insight Manager from the Insight Control for Linux
distribution medium.
To configure Systems Insight Manager settings in the First Time Wizard:
1. Follow the on-screen instructions to register yourself as a Systems Insight Manager customer
if the Systems Insight Manager registration window appears.
