Description and user actionQuestion
You have the option to use an existing instance of a supported version of an Oracle
database if you want to override the default Systems Insight Manager database.
Oracle or default database
If you decide to use an existing Oracle database, be prepared to supply the following
configuration information:
IP address or host name of your existing Oracle database
The port number for connecting to the Oracle server. The default port number is
1521.
The name of the Oracle database instance at the corresponding Oracle database
server.
The Oracle database user name and password used to connect to the Oracle
database server.
Use the same Oracle database user name and password when prompted for the
database credentials of HP virtualization software.
The full path to the Oracle thin client driver .jar file, which must be named
ojdbc14.jar. This path is not required if the .jar file is already in the
CLASSPATH for Systems Insight Manager and JBoss.
The Systems Insight Manager Oracle configuration script reports an error if the
driver class cannot be loaded. This installation does not copy a .jar file if it already
exists in the CLASSPATH for Systems Insight Manager and JBoss. By default, the
ojdbc14.jar file is not shipped with Systems Insight Manager, you can download
it from the Oracle website.
Specify the TCP port on which the Insight Control for Linux repository web server runs.
The default is port 60000. You can choose any available TCP port (1–65535) provided

that no other service is using the same port. If Insight Control for Linux detects that the
specified port is already in use, you will be required to choose another port, and you
will need to open that port on the CMS firewall manually.
Enter the device name that corresponds to the CMS management interface you
configured to be the communication device (NIC) between the CMS and the managed
systems.

communication between the
CMS and the managed
systems
The installation script presents you with a list of available, configured devices, and
you select only one of the listed devices.
In this release, the software deployment features of Insight Control for Linux permit
communication through only one device.
Supply the user name and password that Insight Control for Linux will use to access
and manage the MP on the servers that it will manage.
Default management processor
user credentials
The default setting on an iLO MP accepts passwords equal to or greater than eight
characters in length. If you want to use a password that contains less than eight
characters, you must first change the password length setting on the iLO. In addition,
there are restrictions on LO100 passwords: any characters over 16 characters are
ignored.
IMPORTANT: Do not use the following characters in the MP password:
(double quote)
"
(dollar sign)
$
(percent sign)
%
(at sign)@
(back quote)`
The user name you enter here is added to any MP that is discovered through the bare
metal discovery process.
If the servers are already being managed by Systems Insight Manager, consider
entering the same credentials here.
