Step 2: Copy or move the Debian ISO images into the directory
Copy or move the DVD ISO images for Debian 5.0 into the
/opt/repository/custom/Debian5-i386 directory.
Step 3: Add an installation configuration file to the repository
This step is required only for unattended installations.
An installation configuration file, like a Debian preseed file, contains responses to prompts from the
Debian installer, and enables an unattended installation. Unless you plan to perform only interactive
installations, register an installation configuration file with the repository.
This document uses an installation configuration file named debian5.cfg; however when adding it
to the repository, Insight Control for Linux assumes the.cfg suffix.
The section titled “Registering automated installation configuration files (Kickstart and AutoYaST)” of
the HP Insight Control for Linux User Guide provides the instructions for registering an installation
configuration file. This section supplements the procedure in that section.
1. Select the HP SIM Options IC-LinuxManage Repository... menu item.
2. Select New.
3. Select Installation configuration file for the Item type menu item, then select Next>.
4. Enter the following information for each text field:
Item type: Installation configuration file

Step 4: Copy the Debian installation configuration file into the directory
The example Debian 5 installation configuration file, named debian5.cfg, contains macros that
need to be substituted with actual values, such as a password, IP addresses, and so on. Use the
example debian5.cfg file as a model for creating your own installation configuration file or update
an existing file to contain macros. For more information on these macros and on installation
