HP Insight Control for Linux 6.2 User Guide

21.3 Displaying environmental data
Depending on the platform, certain tools might enable you to collect information specific to the
platform.
You can use the /sbin/hplog utility to display the following environment data:
Thermal sensor data
Fan data
Power data
For more information, see hp-health(4) and hplog(8).
21.4 Reporting usage information and host and service status
Insight Control for Linux includes the Nagios report generator, nrg, a command-line interface
that you can use to obtain usage information and to diagnose the state of the Nagios engine.
The nrg command can generate a list of the status of the Nagios hosts and Nagios services, a
compact display of status, and a state analysis.
The nrg command uses the Nagios status.log file to help you determine the solution for
Nagios problems.
The following command example shows the two-column analysis. The left column identifies the
Nagios host and the right column describes the warning or error and possible actions for
resolution. The system name nh in the Nodelist column represents the CMS.
# nrg --mode analyze
Nodelist Description
-------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------
USE6371RA4 Enclosure Status - Warning> The enclosure is reporting one or more
warning conditions for environmental sensors gathered from the device.
Check the sensor status on the enclosure. Verify the status of the
Enclosures Collection Monitor which provides this data.
nh <Enclosures Collection Monitor - Critical> The Enclosure Collection
Monitor collects sensor information from the blade system enclosures.
Enclosure status can be found in the Nagios Enclosure Status service
plug-in status. A critical status indicates that one or more of the
monitored enclosures has either posted a critical status or the
plug-in has been unable to contact the enclosure. Verify logon
credentials are correct if sensor data is not available.
mercury nh neptune <Load Average - Critical> Nodes have crossed the load average warning
thresholds set in nagios_vars.ini. These are site specific values and
simply indicate resource usage above an expected range. Verify that the
node does not have a misbehaving job or some other problem causing it to
use more CPU then expected.
mercury neptune NodeInfo - Critical> Critical thresholds have been reached for max users,
processes, or zombies etc. See nagios_vars.ini for threshold values.
Values are site specific and critical values indicate values have been
exceeded.
The nrg command can generate the following information:
A list of systems according to their severity, as follows:
Critical
Warning
Ok
Unknown
Pending
Nagios hosts status
Nagios services status
Nagios monitors status
A list of systems that are up or down
For more information, see nrg(8) and use the --help option to display valid command options.
