HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Configuration Guide

1. Enter the existing service account credentials for Insight Management.
2. Click Next.
Step 10: Configuring a database
HP Insight Management searches for an existing database on the local system. If a local/remote
database is detected, use this database or enter the credentials for a remote database. The option
to create a new database is disabled when an existing database is detected.
Database considerations:
See the HP Insight Management Support Matrix for the supported combinations of the CMS,
the local and remote database servers, and the local or remote deployment server.
Ensure that SQL Server Browser and SQL Agent services are running in the database server
before performing a database connection.
When installing in an environment with a previously installed remote database, the current
user running the Insight Management installation must have administrator permissions in the
database.
When reusing an existing database installation, the credentials used for database authentication
must be the same as those of the user currently logged in. If HP SIM is already installed, you
must log in with the same credentials used for database authentication in HP SIM.
When using database-named instances, you must have fixed port numbers, not dynamic port
numbers.
When using an existing database, you must verify the TCP/IP protocol is enabled. Verify your
configuration by opening the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager and navigating
to SQL Server Network ConfigurationProtocols for SQLEXPRESS and enable TCP/IP protocol.
You can install multiple instances of Microsoft SQL Server. If you are running the HP Insight
Management Installer, exit it. Then, run the Microsoft SQL Server installer and follow the
onscreen instructions.
HP Insight Management requires a non-binary collation mode for Microsoft SQL Server
database.
If you are installing HP Matrix infrastructure orchestration, the database password cannot
contain a space. If you need to change your password, see the white paper Changing the
Insight Software 6.0 or 6.1 CMS Password at the following website:
