HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Configuration Guide

3. Locate timeout.update.subnet and change to a value of 15.
4. Restart the Matrix infrastructure orchestration service
From the Windows Start menu, select Administrative Tools->Services, look for HP Matrix
infrastructure orchestration, and restart the service.
Recommended Server Pools and Templates Configuration
VM Templates:
It is recommended that the software template to be used for HP IO deployment should be
located into the same storage volume that is configured to be the target of the HP IO server
deployments. i.e.: If using HP IO to provision logical servers on an ESX host that has two
datastores, one is a SAN volume and the other is a local disk. If IO will be used to provision
on the SAN volume, the VM template should be copied to the SAN volume.
This will significantly reduce the overall provisioning time, since no network file transfers will
be required.
Server Pools:
To improve the performance of the allocation mechanism of HP IO, it´s recommended that
only one server should reside in a single user pool. Having more than one server per pool
should reduce the allocation and reservation process.
Recommended number of concurrent requests
HP recommends to users that in order to avoid unexpected issues and slowdowns on the overall
performance of the CMS, to not to exceed the 12 concurrent requests limit.
HP Matrix infrastructure orchestration configuration parameters
When utilizing Matrix infrastructure orchestration in larger environments, HP recommends that you
make the following changes to the Matrix infrastructure orchestration configuration file to increase
memory allocation and optimize performance.
1. Edit the <InstallPath>\Matrix infrastructure orchestration\conf\
hpio.conf file.
2. Edit and increase the value of wrapper.java.maxmemory=1024 file. HP suggests a value
of 2048 for this setting.
3. Restart the Matrix infrastructure orchestration service.
From the Windows Start menu, select Administrative ToolsServices, look for HP Matrix
infrastructure orchestration, and restart the service.
HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) Adapter for EMC Symmetrix
VMAX
In 7.2 Matrix OE, the SPM adapter for EMC Symmetrix VMAX storage supports storage operations
for discovering arrays and reading pool and volume information, create/delete volumes, grow
volume, and volume presentations on a given host using FC interface. This enables SPM to import
EMC volumes into the storage catalog which can be used to fulfill storage requests for logical
servers.
Enabling and Disabling the HP SPM adapter for EMC Symmetrix VMAX
The SPM adapter for EMC Symmetrix VMAX storage array must be enabled after the installation,
otherwise SPM does not allow you to perform import operations on the EMC Symmetrix VMAX
arrays. Enabling the adapter allows you to import the EMC Symmetrix VMAX arrays into the SPM
catalog. This automatically includes property information regarding the volumes and storage pools
chosen for import. The following subsections provide details for enabling and disabling the adapter.
