HP Insight Control 7.3 Update 1 Getting Started Guide

Regardless of whether you run a task immediately or schedule it to run at a later date, task results
are available as follows:
When you run a task by clicking the Run Now, button, the Task Results page for that task
appears automatically, which enables you to follow the progression of the task from start to
finish.
When you schedule a task or click a Run Now button to run a task immediately, you can
access the task results screen from the Tasks & LogsView Task Results… menu item.
When you schedule a task to run in the future, you can use the Tasks & LogsView All
Scheduled Tasks... or Tasks & LogsView Task Results… menu items to view the results of a
specific task.
CMS Reconfigure Tool
The CMS Reconfigure Tool provides four commands that enable you to make common
reconfiguration changes to HP Insight Control.
Making operating system or CMS configuration changes is challenging because of the difficulty
knowing exactly what steps are needed for a particular operating system/CMS installed
environment. The mxreconfig command provides an automated way to perform these tasks for
the HP Insight Control components. The CMS Reconfigure Tool is supported for HP Insight Control
7.0 and later, on systems running Microsoft Windows with an SQL server.
HP Insight Control supports the following operations using the Reconfigure Tool:
Table 1 Reconfigure Tasks
CommandTask
mxreconfig -m passwordReconfiguring the CMS password
mxreconfig -m hostReconfiguring the CMS host and IP attributes
mxreconfig -m dbauth -a <db-user-name>Reconfiguring the CMS database credentials
mxreconfig -m sqlredirect -s
<db-server-name>
Reconfiguring the CMS to use a different database
For information about using these commands see the HP Systems Insight Manager User Guide at
http://www.hp.com/go/insightmanagement/sim/docs.
Prior to using any of the CMS reconfigure commands, ensure the CMS and associated database
are backed up. For information about backing up the CMS, see the Backing up and restoring HP
Insight Software Central Management System (Windows) white paper at:http://www.hp.com/
go/insightsoftware/docs.
NOTE: Reconfiguring the CMS password for Insight Control Server Deployment
If you have Insight Control server deployment installed, to update credentials, follow the steps in
the “Changing deployment server/solution username of password (after initial installation)” section
of the Insight Control Server Deployment User Guide located at http://www.hp.com/go/
insightsoftware/docs.
