HP Insight Control 7.3 Update 1 Getting Started Guide

Insight Control includes a set of performance management tools that enable you to set
performance thresholds, run various performance reports, and analyze real time performance
of one or more servers. Insight Control performance monitoring detects performance bottlenecks
and provides performance improvement recommendations.
See “Managing and monitoring server performance” (page 23) for more information.
Automated and accurate server migration
The server migration application enables you to perform Physical-to-ProLiant (P2P),
Virtual-to-ProLiant (V2P), Physical-to-Virtual (P2V), or Virtual-to-Virtual (V2V) migrations from a
single integrated graphical user interface. The migration process is automated, accurate,
affordable, and simple to use. Server migration features enable you to replicate the servers
that are running correctly, but might be under-performing or are over-provisioned, to a new
physical or virtual server in an automated and accurate way.
See “Migrating existing physical or virtual servers to another server” (page 24) for more
information.
Scalable monitoring for hundreds of servers
Insight Control and Systems Insight Manager can monitor and manage hundreds of servers.

Integrated security features
The HP Insight Management Installation and Configuration Guide lists security considerations and
best practices recommended by HP. Review that information to ensure you have implemented an
appropriate security solution for your environment.
The following features have been integrated into HP Systems Insight Manager and Insight Control
to make them secure:
Browser Connections
Systems Insight Manager enforces a secure HTTPS connection to the web browser.
User Names and Passwords
A Systems Insight Manager administrator has total flexibility to configure user accounts and
passwords to allow or restrict actions on managed systems. User logins are authenticated by
the OS on the CMS, and all passwords are encrypted. See the HP Systems Insight Manager
User Guide for more information about security:

(page 31).
Firewalls
HP SIM and Insight Control work with a firewall if you open the appropriate ports.
For more information, see Managing HP Servers through Firewalls with Insight Management
in the Systems Insight Manager information library. This white paper describes management
protocols, separating the management network, managing through a firewall using a single
network, and open ports on the CMS:
