2 Managing the appliance
Activating Insight Control server provisioning
Licensed customers must register Insight Control server provisioning by retrieving a key via an HP
web address and entering the key via the Insight Control server provisioning UI.
Until you activate Insight Control server provisioning, a link is displayed in the Recommended
actions list, available from the Help menu in the banner.
You only have to activate Insight Control server provisioning one time; once Insight Control server
provisioning is activated, the link is removed from the Recommended actions list.
To activate Insight Control server provisioning:
1. Select the activate Insight Control server provisioning link from the Recommended actions list,
available from the Help menu in the banner.
NOTE: If Insight Control server provisioning has already been activated, the link will no
longer appear in the list of Recommended actions.
2. From the Activate Insight Control server provisioning screen, select the link to acquire the
activation key and follow instructions.
3. Enter your Activation key on the Activate Insight Control server provisioning screen.
4. Select Activate.
NOTE: If you are unable to activate the appliance, contact your authorized support representative.
Updating the appliance
You can update the software components of your appliance from the facility in Insight Control
server provisioning by accessing the Settings screen and selecting Actions→Update appliance.

Installation Guide BEFORE you begin an update for important requirements and detailed instructions.

Actions for managing your appliance
Many of the actions for managing your appliance are available in the Insight Control server
provisioning UI on the Settings screen. From the Actions menu on the Settings screen you can select
the following:
• Update appliance
• Create support dump
• Download audit logs
