HP Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.3 Update 1 Administrator Guide

Target server requirements
Before you discover servers, be sure the servers are set up properly and meet the following
requirements:
Be sure it's a supported server as specified in the Insight Control server provisioning section
of the HP Insight Management Support Matrix available at http://www.hp.com/go/
insightcontrol/docs.
Be sure you have configured the deployment interface, and make sure that interface is
connected to your deployment network and reachable by the deployment interface of your
appliance.
There can only be one NIC attached to the deployment network. See the HP Insight Control
Server Provisioning Installation Guide section on Appliance networking considerations for
more details on the Deployment IP.
Be sure the network interface for your iLO is connected to the network and reachable via either
the appliance or deployment interfaces.
If you will be PXE booting your servers, be sure the server is on the same network as your
DHCP server or that an appropriate DHCP helper is configured on your router.
Adding servers
Before you can run a job on a target server, that server must first be added to Insight Control server
provisioning. There are multiple ways to add servers to your appliance. The following sections
describe those methods and outline their differences:
“Deciding which method to use to add a server” (page 30)
Adding a server via its iLO” (page 32)
“PXE booting a server into maintenance mode” (page 32)
When a server is added to Insight Control server provisioning its name appears in the servers list
on the master pane of the Servers screen. The server is then available to have OS Build Plan jobs
run on it.
NOTE: For details on using the UI to check server status, add servers, edit servers, delete servers
or erase servers see the online help.
Servers currently running a production operating system can be added to IC server provisioning
without rebooting by adding the HP Server Automation (SA) agent to the target server, and then
registering the server’s iLO. See Adding servers that are already running an operating system
(page 33) for details.
