HP Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.3 Update 1 Administrator Guide

NOTE: See the HP OneView Appliances section of the online help for more information.
IC server provisioning Build Plans use the plan Type field to identify what services they manage.
This Type field is used when integrating with HP OneView to identify where the services managed
by a Build Plan may overlap services of HP OneView appliances.
When IC server provisioning runs an OS Build Plan, it will check to see if you have identified HP
OneView appliances and if the OS Build Plan Type is one of the following three types:
HW — SAN Configuration
HW — BIOS Configuration
SW — Firmware
IC server provisioning will then compare the list of servers and Build Plans selected with the HP
OneView appliances listed to see if there is a conflict. If a conflict is found, a notification will be
displayed where you can cancel and make corrections or choose to force run the Build Plan anyway.
See the online help for details on these notifications.
HP provided Build Plans already have the plan Type field set so no additional configuration is
required. For example the Build Plan ProLiant HW — System ROM Enable Boot from SAN on
Bladeserver has a plan Type set to HW — BIOS Configuration.
If you are integrating with HP OneView and you make custom Build Plans, you will need to set the
plan Type correctly so that IC server provisioning will identify HP OneView conflicts as it does with
HP provided Build Plans. For Build Plans you create that configure BIOS settings, manage firmware
updates or configure SAN boot, you specify one of the plan Types listed above. See the online
help for details on editing a Build Plan.
If one or more of the HP OneView appliances is unavailable at the time an OS Build Plan is run
that will be treated as a conflict with HP OneView and the same options will be provided.
You can check the HP OneView Appliances screen in the IC server provisioning UI to see the status
of the HP OneView appliances. The status indicates whether IC server provisioning could
communicate with the HP OneView appliance.
