Insight Control server provisioning does not support deployment of boot from SAN (iSCSI) in multipath configuration.
2
For physical server storage provisioning, Matrix Operating Environment supports any Fibre Channel storage device that
fulfills the requirements in “Matrix OE storage support” (page 42). For details on VM storage support, see Table 37 (page
41).
3
See “Storage support for Matrix recovery management” (page 43).
4
Matrix OE users who are using SPM should be aware that there is an incompatibility between 3PAR OS 3.1.2 MU2
and SPM versions 2.2.0 and earlier (bundled with Insight Management 7.2, 7.2U1, and 7.2U2). See the HP Matrix
Operating Environment 7.2 Update 2 Release Notes for more information.
5
SPM supports 3PAR StoreServ Fibre Channel and provides varied support for a number of 3PAR StoreServ options such
as Virtual Domains, Autonomic Groups, and Peer Motion. See HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) User Guide for
more information.
6
Supported as VM backing store only.
7
HP P6000 Command View Software versions 9.4, 9.4.1, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 are supported.
8
Supports the Matrix Operating Environment storage pool entry validation feature.
9
Storage Provisioning Manager supports XP storage solutions for automated catalog import and presentation, but does
not support on-demand provisioning.
Fibre channel storage and switch recommendations
HP recommends the HP storage solution portfolio of products, which includes:
3PAR StoreServ
P6000 EVA
P9000 XP
You must provide connectivity to a compatible Fibre Channel SAN array. Customer-supplied Fibre
Channel switches to an external SAN must support boot from SAN and NPIV functionality.
To obtain a list of switches and storage devices that are supported by Virtual Connect Fibre Channel:
1. Open a browser to the following website:
http://www.hp.com/storage/spock
2. If you are a new user and do not have an HP Passport account, register for an account. If you
have an account, sign in.
3. Navigate to Other HardwareVirtual ConnectHP VC 8Gb 24-Port Module.
iSCSI SAN
iSCSI is supported only as a virtual backing store (not a physical server booting from iSCSI or a
virtual machine directly accessing raw iSCSI LUNs).
