Installing and upgrading HP Insight Management 7.3 on Windows Server 2012 Failover Clusters

Technical white paper | HP Insight Management 7.3
8. At this point the cluster group for Systems Insight Manager and Insight Management has been created, the client
access point resource is defined and is online, and disk resource is defined and online as shown in Figure 7.

Installing Insight Management prerequisites
Complete the following configuration items before starting to install Insight Management.
Verifying the SQL Server clustered instance and determining port number in use
If you did not verify the clustered SQL Server instance that Insight Management will use, do so now by moving the SQL
Server application to its alternate node and then back to its current node.
Insight Management does not allow dynamic port numbers to be used with database named instances. By default, named
instances in SQL server 2012 are configured to use dynamic ports. If SQL Server is configured to use dynamic ports, this
setting now must be changed.
By default the unnamed database instance listens on port 1433. The SQL Browser uses port 1434. Port 1433, port 1435,
and incrementally higher are often good choices for named instance static port numbers.
To determine and adjust the TCP/IP port used by the SQL Server database instance:
1. On the node owning the SQL Server resources, run SQL Server Configuration Manager (Start SQL Server
Configuration Manager).
2. In the left pane expand SQL Server Network Configuration.
3. Select Protocols for
InstanceName
, where
InstanceName
is your named instance of SQL Server 2012; in this white
paper, it is cms_c17_instance.
4. In the right pane double-click TCP/IP. Then choose one of the next two approaches to configure your static port.
A. Simplest: if you wish to allow SQL Server to listen to all the IP addresses bound to network cards on the system
through a single static port (the SQL Server default), then:
i. On the Protocol tab, ensure that Enabled is set to Yes and Listen All is set to Yes.
ii. Click the IP Addresses tab. Navigate to the IP All entry at the bottom of the list. Set its TCP Dynamic Ports
parameter to blank and its TCP Port parameter to your selected static port number.
B. Alternately: if you wish to enable and disable specific IP addresses for listening on a single static port, then:
i. On the Protocol tab, ensure that Enabled is set to Yes and Listen All is set to No.
ii. Select the IP Addresses tab.
