Installing and upgrading HP Insight Management 7.3 on Windows Server 2012 Failover Clusters

Technical white paper | HP Insight Management 7.3
iii. Selectively enable or disable each IP address by setting Enable to Yes or No.
iv. For each enabled IP, set the value of TCP Dynamic Ports to blank and TCP Port to your selected static port
number.
5. Record the static port number for use when Insight Management is installed. Then click OK.
6. Restart SQL Server to apply the changes. (In the middle pane of Failover Cluster Manager under Roles, right-click your
SQL Server group, which in this paper is SQL Server (CMS_C17_INSTANCE), and click Stop Role. Then repeat and select
Start Role.)
For more information, see How to configure an instance of SQL Server to listen on a specific TCP port or dynamic port at

Verifying Insight Management prerequisites and updating Windows
Review the following information:
Insight Management installation requirements listed in the HP Insight Management 7.3 Support Matrix, especially
the Requirements for non-OS software and Supported browsers section
The HP Insight Management 7.3 Preinstallation Worksheet
The HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Upgrade Release Notes, especially for the components to be
installed
Verify that all prerequisites for Insight Management installation are met and the most recent Windows Server updates have
been applied.
Log in to each system one at a time, and then power down the other system. All cluster resources will be owned by the
system that you are logged into. Then perform the following steps:
1. Ensure that HP Insight Management DVD #1 is available to the system.
2. Run the HP Insight Management Advisor and complete the following steps. (For more detail, see Steps 2 and 3 from
section 2, Installing or upgrading HP Insight Management, from the HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and
Configuration Guide.)
A. Click Filter… and then Customize.
B. Select only the components you will be installing.
C. Select Include Pre-Install Tests.
D. Click OK and Run Now.
3. Review the results. Correct any material deficiencies noted, such as installing any missing software.
Important:
Be sure .NET 3.5.1 or later software is installed BEFORE continuing with the HP Insight Management installation. Microsoft
SQL Server 2012 requires .NET 3.5 SP1 to be pre-installed before you select a Database Engine for an installation. The .NET
Framework 4.5 comes enabled on Windows Server 2012. To verify, click Start Administrative Tools Server Manager. In
the left pane of the
Server Manager console, click App Server. If installed, .NET 4.5 will be listed in the center pane under
ROLES AND FEATURES. Allowing the HP Insight Management Installer to install .NET software during the installation process
will restart the clustered services and disrupt access to the shared disk, resulting in an unsuccessful installation.
4. If HP Matrix recovery management is being installed and configured with HP 3PAR Storage on this cluster, install the HP
3PAR Command Line Interface and the HP 3PAR Cluster Extension Software on the Shared Disk (v:\ in this
whitepaper) on each cluster node now in a sequential manner. Each cluster node should have a registry entry for the
installed software.
5. Run Windows Update. Apply needed updates.
Validating the cluster configuration
6. In the Failover Cluster Manager, validate the cluster configuration again. On the screen Review Storage Status, make
sure to select the disks you wish the wizard to test. See Using the Cluster Validation Wizard to verify the storage
configuration.
Creating a system restore point
Create a backup or system restore point for the entire cluster: each cluster node’s boot disk and the cluster shared disks,
S:, T:, and W:. (See Storage.)
