Using the HP Rapid Deployment Pack 3.7 to Deploy Microsoft Windows Server 2003 for IA64

The following table displays the required value of ACPI on LinuxPE and Windows Server 2003.
ACPI ValueOperating System
Default (sx2000 chipset, Arches)
single-pci-domain (sx1000 chipset, Pinnacles)
LinuxPE
Windows Windows Server 2003 SP1 or SP2, Enterprise
Edition for IA64
Windows Server 2003 SP2, DataCenter
Edition for IA64
On a bare-metal system, the ACPI Mode is always set to default. With this value, you can boot
to LinuxPE. You can also boot to LinuxPE when the ACPI mode is set to single-pci-domain,
which is valid for systems manufactured with the sx1000 chipset: rx7620, rx8620, and Superdome
sx1000.
To boot Windows Server 2003, ACPI mode must be set to Windows regardless of the chipset.
Setting ACPI becomes necessary when switching from a production Windows operating system
to a Linux automation environment and vice-versa.
Setting ACPI mode
In the EFI Shell, ACPI can be set using the acpiconfig command.
To determine which mode the system is in, enter acpiconfig at the EFI Shell prompt.
To set it to a different value, enter acpiconfig [mode].
NOTE: An ACPI mode change only takes effect after a reset is issued.
