HP Serviceguard Manager
HP Serviceguard and HP Serviceguard Manager both work well with online migrations, provided:
• HP Serviceguard is configured with the VM hosts as cluster nodes and the critical virtual machines
as packages.
• You take care to either manually disable packages prior to calling hpvmmigrate or to use the script
/opt/cmcluster/toolkit/hpvm/hpvmsg_move that handles package disabling and re-enabling on
your behalf.
The two things that we need to be aware of when using this combination of technologies is that
there is a window of vulnerability while the package is disabled—critical failures during this time
require a manual package restart—and that HP Serviceguard Manager will detect this vulnerability
and issue alerts.
