HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.3: Release Notes (5900-2265, May 2012)

7 Networking Information
This chapter contains notes about configuring networks for virtual machines.
7.1 Changes and Issues in V4.3 January 2012 Patch Release
The following section provides new information about V4.3 January 2012 patch release.
7.1.1 Maximum Length for vswitch Names
The maximum length of a vswitch name has been increased from 8 characters to 64 characters.
7.2 Changes and Issues in the V4.3 Release
The following sections contain networking information for the V4.3 release.
7.2.1 IPv6 Support and Exceptions
Integrity VM supports an IPv4 and IPv6 mixed environment in a VM configured with an IPv6 address
as long as the primary IPv4 address is also configured, with the following exceptions:
Configuring and using an IPv6 address in virtual iLO Remote Console. No IPv6 address can
be specified as a Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-IP-Address in the following
commands:
hpvmclone -P guestname -K Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-IP-Address -L
Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-Mask
hpvmcreate -P guestname -K Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-IP-Address -L
Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-Mask
hpvmmodify -P guestname -K Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-IP-Address -L
Virtual-iLO-Remote-Console-Mask
Mounting NFS backing stores using an IPv6 address. The host portion of host:pathname
syntax in the mount command cannot be a name of an NFS-server host backed to an IPv6
address nor the IPv6 address string. (For information about the mount command, see
mount_nfs(1M) manpage).
Guest virtual EFI No IPv6 address is supported in EFI firmware. For example, with an HP-UX
guest, executing the fs0:startup_net.nsh with an entry that specifies an IPv6 address
as part of network ifconfig, route, ftp, and so on, is not supported.
NOTE: An HP Integrity VM Host with an IPv6–only configuration is not supported at this time.
7.2.2 Integrity VM virtual iLO Remote Console Limitations
Integrity VM virtual iLO Remote Console limitations include the following:
If the IP address or network settings are modified, and the Remote Console stops working,
you can restart the Remote Console by deleting and re-adding it:
# hpvmmodify -P guest -K 0
# hpvmmodify -P guest -K IP address -L netmask
The virtual iLO Remote Console does not support captive accounts.
Prior to the virtual iLO Remote Console, guest administrators had to be created as captive
accounts, by changing the default shell. For example:
# useradd -r no -g users -s /opt/hpvm/bin/hpvmconsole \
-c "Console access to guest 'testme'" \
-d /var/opt/hpvm/guests/testme \
testme1
