HP Integrity Virtual Machines 4.3: Release Notes (5900-2265, May 2012)

1 Introduction
Thank you for installing HP Integrity Virtual Machines (also called Integrity VM). This Release Notes
document describes the changes in this version of the Integrity VM product. The HP Integrity Virtual
Machines Release Notes document describes the latest enhancements and changes to the HP
Integrity Virtual Machines product (Integrity VM), including limitations and guidelines for using the
Integrity VM software. Always read the release notes before installing and using the product. For
the most current information, obtain the latest version of this document from the BSC website

This chapter introduces the release notes for the V4.3 May 2012 patch release.
This document is intended for system and network administrators responsible for installing,
configuring, and managing Integrity VM. Administrators are expected to have an in-depth knowledge
of HP-UX operating system concepts, commands, and configuration. In addition, administrators
must be familiar with the HP Integrity machine console and how to install the operating systems
and applications running on their virtual machines.
The following patches are required on the HP-UX 11i v3 VM Host:

From V4.3 January 2012 Patch release kit:
PHSS_42543 HPVM B.04.30 VMMIGRATE PATCH
PHSS_42545 HPVM B.04.30 vmProvider PATCH (11.31)
PHSS_42547 HPVM B.04.30 VMCONVERT PATCH
The following patches from the January 2012 Patch release kit are required on the HP-UX guest:
PHSS_42545 HPVM B.04.30 vmProvider PATCH (11.31)
PHSS_42546 HPVM A.04.30 vmProvider PATCH (11.23)
NOTE: The PHSS_42543 patch and the PHSS_42542 patch, which was superseded by
PHSS_42973 patch, enforce backing store configuration validity checks during Online Serviceguard
package migrations. Misconfigured storage will print the following messages from the source host:
hpvmmigrate: ERROR (sgpkgname): Remote message: Source and target device
mismatch. WWID for source device '/dev/slvm1/rlvol1' does not match
target device '/dev/slvm1/rlvol1'.
hpvmmigrate: ERROR (sgpkgname): Remote message: Source and target device
mismatch. WWID for source device '/dev/slvm2/rlvol1' does not match
target device '/dev/slvm2/rlvol1'.
Once the target host's storage configuration is repaired, issue an hpvmdevmgmt -I on the target
to reset the Integrity VM Device Management database.
