HP-UX vPars and Integrity VM version 6 is a product that brings together vPars and Integrity VM functionality in a single,
common, easy-to-use management environment. Version 6.2 is included as part of HP-UX 11i v3 March 2013 update
release.
This document provides an introduction and description of HP’s vPars online memory migration feature. In this document
you will nd descriptions, benets and limitations, and the steps necessary for optimally conguring and using online
memory migration in vPars v6.2.
Intended audience
This document is intended for administrators and and system architects responsible for setting up and provisioning
memory resources for HP-UX vPars v6. Administrators should be familiar with HP-UX vPars and how to install the
operating systems and applications on them.
Acronyms and terms
Acronyms/Terms Denition
Host or VSP Virtualization Services Platform. The Integrity platform plus the operating system on which the virtual
machines are running.
vPar Virtual Partition that runs with dedicated CPU and Memory resources.
VM guest Integrity virtual machine guest that runs with shared system resources.
vPar/VM memory pool Pool of memory that is available for use by the vPar and VM guests.
