NOTE:

If you are conﬁguring a NAS environment, you do not need to follow the procedures described in this

section. For instructions on deﬁning LU paths in NAS environments, see Associating host groups or

iSCSI targets to logical volumes.

Creating host groups (when conﬁguring Fibre Channel environments)

You can connect multiple server hosts of different platforms to one port on the array. When conﬁguring

the system, you must group server hosts connected to the array by host groups. For example, if HP-UX and

Windows hosts are connected to a port, you must create one host group for HP-UX hosts and another host

group for Windows hosts. Next, you must register HP-UX hosts to the corresponding host group and

1. Start LUN Manager. The LUN Manager pane (Figure 14) appears.

2. Right-click the port for which you want to create a host group, and select Add New Host Group.The

Add New Host Group pane appears.

NOTE:

If you right-click an initiator port, you cannot select Add New Host Group. You cannot

create host groups for initiator ports.

3. In the Gr

oup Name box, enter the host group name.

It is con

venient if you name each host group after the host platform. For example, when creating a

host group to register Windows NT® hosts in, the host group name can be wnt.

A host group name can consist of up to 32 ASCII characters (letters, numerals, and symbols).

However, you cannot use the following symbols for host group names:

\/:,;*?"<>|

You cannot use spaces for the ﬁrst and last characters in host group names.

oup names are case-sensitive. For example, host group names wnt and Wnt represent

differ

enthostgroups.

4. In the Host Mode list, select a host mode. When selecting a host mode, you must consider the

platform and other factors (see Table 16).
