2 Finishing the HP Insight Management installation
The configuration procedures in this chapter assume that you are connected to the Central
Management Server (CMS) through a web browser as a user with administrator privileges.
Discover managed hardware components

Required1. Run Options→Discovery... to define one or more discovery tasks for hardware
components that use the same credentials. For more information, see the HP
Insight Management Installation and Configuration Guide at the following
website:

Required2. Run the defined discovery tasks in the proper order via Options→Discovery....
As you run each task, verify that the expected hardware components have
been discovered, properly associated, and address any errors in the
discovery results.
a. Central Management Server (CMS) ) — Discovers the HP Systems Insight
Manager CMS and its management processor (if the CMS has a
management processor).
b. Onboard Administrato r — Discovers the onboard administrators for every
enclosure to be managed. When specifying credentials for this task, you
must also include the management processor (remote management)
credentials for every blade in the enclosures that are associated with the
Onboard Administrator.
c. Management Processors — Discovers all management processors that
are not discovered in the previous tasks, including remote management
and management processors for all non-blade systems.
d. Physical Servers — Discovers physical servers, such as blades. You must
run onboard adminstrator and management processor discovery tasks
for these servers before running this one.
e. Virtual Machines — Discovers virtual machines that are associated with
servers that are discovered in the previous category.
3. Run HPSIM discovery for vCenter servers for ESX VMs deployment, SCVMM
servers for Hyper-V VMs deployment (where Hyper-V server is under SCVMM
management), and Ignite servers in case of HP-UX deployment.
For HPIO virtual deployment, it is necessary to discover the Hypervisor (ESX
and Hyper-V).

Required1. Run the Insight Managed System Setup wizard (Configure→Managed System
Setup Wizard...) to install agents, apply licenses, and configure options that
are specific to the management capabilities that are intended for use on the
managed system, including Secure Shell (SSH), single sign-on, and licensing.
NOTE: Configure the vCenter server and then run Managed System Setup
Wizard. If vCenter is not configured before registering ESX hosts on VMM,
the registration fails.
