assigned to it. This WWN, like a MAC address for NICs, is used to uniquely identify this FC port
to the SAN. The storage administrator provides access to these ports when pre-presenting LUNs.
1. Click the Add Port button to add a row to the Port Selection table. You add a maximum of
two ports.
2. Select a value from the Fabric drop-down menu.
3. Select a value from the Speed drop-down menu.
For Fibre Channel ports, select 1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb, or Auto (FC).
For Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) ports, select 1Gb, 2Gb, 4Gb, 8Gb (FCoE) or Custom
(FCoE) from the drop-down menu. If you select Custom (FCoE), enter a port speed in the text
box. Custom port speed values can be 0.1 through 10.0 GB, in increments of 0.1 GB.
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each port for this logical server.
5. To remove the last port added to the table, click the Remove Last Port button. Ports must be
removed in the reverse order in which they were added.

Volume and path definition
After creating and presenting the volumes (LUNs), the storage administrator provides the server
administrator with the information required to complete the logical server storage definition. This
information includes:
Storage WWN, uniquely identifying the port used to communicate with the SAN
LUN, uniquely identifying the created volume within the SAN
Using these two pieces of information, the path to the LUN is unique within the FC environment.
Redundancy
Multiple ports help performance and improve reliability through redundancy and failover capability.
For redundancy check boxes to become enabled, you must define two ports (one primary and one
secondary) in the Port Selection table.
Check the Use Redundancy for all Storage Volumes for this Logical Server check box if you
want all volumes to implement redundancy, or
Check the redundancy check box next to a specific volume to implement redundancy for that
volume.
Volume and path selection
A volume is a fixed disk drive on a disk array in a storage area network (SAN) that is not necessarily
mapped to a controller port. When a storage volume is mapped to a controller port, it becomes
addressable in the SAN as a logical unit number (LUN).
Entering storage port WWN and LUN values in the Volume & Path Selection table is optional on
this screen, but you must enter those values before you can activate the logical server. If you do
not enter the values on this screen, you can modify the storage entry for this logical server later.
