HP Matrix Operating Environment 7.3 and 7.3 Update 1 Logical Server Management User Guide

IMPORTANT: For SAN Catalog Storage Entries and SAN Pre-populated Catalog Storage Entries
fulfilled with existing storage, the Remove Volume action returns the storage volume to the storage
catalog as an available resource. If SPM had created the volume through on-demand provisioning,
it will be automatically deleted by SPM.

Validation status
After you have specified your storage pool entry, you can optionally confirm that the server WWN
has been associated with the storage port WWN and LUN by pressing the Validate button.
Validation on this screen is not available for SAN Catalog Storage Entries and SAN Pre-populated
Catalog Storage Entries. Catalog-based storage is validated when presentation is complete.
See “Validating storage” (page 59) for more information.
Manage server WWNs
The Manage Server WWNs table allows you to manage the server WWNs for the storage pool
entry.
The Status column displays the presentation status of the storage pool entry.
Press Get/Refresh Pool Entries to see updated status. The values that can be displayed in the Status
column are:
Presentation Initiated
Presentation Pending
Presentation Completed
Presentation Completed with Errors
Inoperable (can be displayed with any other status)
IMPORTANT: You must select the Ready check box next to each server WWN before a SAN
Storage Entry can be used by logical servers. This indicates the storage zoning has been completed
and the storage pool entry is ready for successful use. This is not necessary for storage pool entries
using the SPM storage catalog. The Ready check box is grayed out and selected by default for
SAN Catalog Storage Entry and SAN Pre-populated Catalog Storage Entry, since SPM is handling
the SAN zoning (either automated or manual).
