Table 9 LSMUTIL storage options
PurposeLSMUTIL option
Export storage pool entries into an XML file, which can be modified and then
imported.
1
NOTE: The -export spe only exports a subset of the information
concerning a catalog-based (SPM-based) storage pool entries. It exports all
of the information as displayed with other storage pool entries, but it does not
export the information that is particular to a catalog-based storage pool entry.
-export spe
-import -SPE
Import modified storage pool entries from an XML file
Create multiple storage pool entries by importing pre-allocated storage
volumes from an XML file
1
NOTE: The import spe option cannot be used with catalog-based
(SPM-based) storage pool entries. The export or import SPE capability does
not contain the needed properties to retain the references to the underlining
SPM service and volumes.
Preallocate server (initiator) WWNs for a Virtual Connect Domain Group. An
automatically allocated server WWN in a storage pool entry can be replaced
-reserve wwn
with a preallocated WWN, for which appropriate zoning and storage
presentation has already been done
Exports the inventory of managed resources (servers, blades, hypervisors, and
so on) and any current annotations (local disk information) to the XML file as
-export an
specified with the file parameter. By editing this file and adding or editing
the local disk information within it, and then importing the XML file using
lsmutil import an file filename.xml, You can create or modify
information about local disks that is hidden from Matrix OE discovery.
This command is usable only for available Blades and DL servers controlled
by the CMS.
If the user specifies a negative storagesize within the imported XML file,
the localdisk information will be reset to the default settings.
Import compute resources and local disk information using lsmutil import
an file filename.xml.

Importing and exporting storage information
LSMUTIL includes two options (-export spe and import spe) that facilitate communication
between the server administrator who defines storage pool entries, and the storage administrator
who creates, presents, and zones storage.
NOTE: The -export spe only exports a subset of the information concerning a catalog-based
(SPM-based) storage pool entries. It exports all of the information as displayed with other storage
pool entries, but it does not export the information that is particular to a catalog-based storage
pool entry.
The import spe options cannot be used with catalog-based storage pool entries.
The XML file that is generated from the lsmutil -export spe command contains a number
of <StorageEntry> elements that represent existing storage pool entries, each with tagged
properties and elements.
The <Volume> specifications in the exported XML file represent the requests from the server
administrator. The storage administrator can use the initiator WWNs tagged in <WWN> within
the <ServerWWN> element when creating, presenting, and zoning the requested storage volumes.
The storage controller port WWNs (and LUN numbers) can be edited into the <SanVolumePath>
elements.
