Insight Dynamics 6.1 Release Notes

Cross-technology logical servers can be moved between servers with Virtual Connect and
ESX virtual machines, and between servers with Virtual Connect with unlike configurations.
Using HP Insight Recovery, the same type of movement can be accomplished across sites
and used for disaster recovery. The technology preview also includes raw device mapping
(RDM) storage for virtual machine logical servers. These features are intended as a technology
preview for early access use in non-production configurations. Subsequent releases will
contain full support and a wider set of production use cases.

• Insight Recovery: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V R2 technology preview
(Windows CMS only)
HP Insight Recovery 6.1 includes technology preview support for Microsoft Windows Server
2008 with Hyper-V R2 in a standalone (non-clustered) configuration. Using HP Insight
Recovery, Hyper-V virtual machines can now be protected against disasters.
• Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) technology preview (Windows CMS only; added in
6.0)
HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) is an optional tool for managing storage
provisioning within the Insight Dynamics software environment. SPM supports EVA storage,
and is intended as a technology preview for early access use in non-production configurations.
It provides a secure service-centric management interface to storage, allowing storage
requests to be fulfilled with available storage services from a storage catalog, and securely
automating storage management tasks by interfacing directly with storage arrays.
SPM will be expanded in subsequent releases to support additional storage devices and a
wider set of production use cases. Note that the cross-technology logical servers technology
preview does not support SPM-based storage volumes.
