Technology preview: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V and Microsoft
Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V R2 (non-clustered)
HP Insight Virtualization Manager software
Virtualization Manager provides a graphical framework for visualizing systems and
workloads within a virtual server environment. Hierarchical relationships between systems
and their current utilization metrics can be seen in a single screen. New in this release:
Support for VMware vSphere 4, Microsoft Hyper-V 2008, and Microsoft Hyper-V Server
2008 R2
— Support for SLES 11 x86 standalone servers
— Socket-based licensing, and licensing HP Insight Dynamics software on non-HP servers
from Dell and IBM
HP Insight Dynamics supports x86 managed systems from Dell (2000, 6000, r800, r900)
and IBM eServer e300 series, x300 and x3000 series, and Blade HS and LS servers running
supported operating environments.
— Ability to elevate a user to “root” status to perform operations, but using his/her real
username for audit purposes
— New features in the Visualization tab, including better error messages for meters,
showing bay numbers on blades and sorting them in order within an enclosure, and
enhancing the hardware status icon with pop-up details
HP Instant Capacity Manager
The Instant Capacity (iCAP) Manager is a web-based interface that can be used to monitor
your Instant Capacity environment. There are several pages available in iCAP Manager,
including a home page to provide an overview of the Instant Capacity resources available,
a Global Instant Capacity (GiCAP) group manager page to provide more insight into the
group managers, and detail pages for GiCAP groups and iCAP complexes and hosts.
Technology preview: HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM)
HP Insight Dynamics 6.0 includes a technology preview version of HP Storage Provisioning
Manager (SPM). SPM is an optional tool for managing storage provisioning within the
Insight Dynamics software environment. The initial release of SPM supports EVA storage,
and is intended as a technology preview for early access use in non-production configurations.
It provides a secure service-centric management interface to storage, allowing storage
requests to be fulfilled with available storage services from a storage catalog, and securely
automating storage management tasks by interfacing directly with storage arrays.
SPM will be expanded in subsequent releases to support additional storage devices and a
wider set of production use cases.

Integrity Virtual Machines Manager
HP Integrity Virtual Machines Manager (VM Manager) is the GUI that you can use from
your browser to manage Integrity VM resources. VM Manager allows you to create, configure,
and evaluate virtual machines, and to monitor and evaluate data and resources at the level
of the VM Host. You can view all of a VM Host's virtual machines and their assigned
resources, and you can view all resources assigned to a specific virtual machine or virtual
switch. For example, VM Manager provides graphical views of virtual-to-physical network
and storage devices so that you can view I/O data, including resource utilization information.
VM Manager obtains information about Integrity VM resources through Web-Based
Enterprise Management (WBEM) providers installed on the VM Host.
