5 Managed system firmware

This chapter provides the firmware recommendations for servers and devices that can be licensed

and managed by Insight Management.

Service Pack for ProLiant

HP Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) is a collection of individual systems software and firmware,

offered as a solution for all the following HP ProLiant servers, including all Gen8 servers:

• HP BladeSystem c-Class ProLiant Server Blade

• HP ProLiant DL100, DL300, DL500, DL600

, DL700, and DL900 series rack mount servers

• HP ProLiant ML300 and ML500 series tower servers

• HP ProLiant SL100

, SL200

, SL300, and SL4000 series scalable system servers

Updating servers, BladeSystems, and BladeSystem enclosures using the SPP with HP Smart Update

Manager (HP SUM) is faster and more efficient because only the necessary components are

preloaded.

The SPP is delivered as an ISO image. There are also four subsets, also delivered as ISOs. They

are optimized by operating systems and ProLiant server types. Each subset version includes software

and firmware smart components required for its specific audience and allows for a customized

solution and a faster download. The ISOs available are:

• HP Service Pack for ProLiant

• BladeSystem Red Hat Enterprise Linux Pack

• BladeSystem Microsoft Windows Server Pack

• ProLiant ML/DL/SL Red Hat Enterprise Linux Pack

• ProLiant ML/DL/SL Microsoft Windows Server Pack
