that WWN with another reserved Virtual Connect WWN, if appropriate (e.g., if the storage administrator has
reserved a set of initiator WWNs and created, presented, and zoned storage but not created storage pool entries
to represent those storage volumes, and is not using the Storage Provisioning Manager storage catalog).
NOTE: If the administrator leaves the host mode as unspecified, Matrix OE will match for storage which can support
all possible host modes (including Windows 2008). It is recommended to specify a host mode (and if the storage
pool entry is using the SPM storage catalog, the storage administrator may have enabled the ability to adjust host
mode as necessary).
Figure 19 shows the entry contains three volumes, suitable for use by a medium-sized Windows Exchange server.
Matrix OE has automatically allocated the server HBA initiator WWNs (shown in the Manage Server WWNs table at
the bottom of the screen). If appropriate, the administrator can replace the automatically allocated server WWNs
with valid Virtual Connect HBA initiator WWNs (either previously allocated by Matrix OE and suitable for re-use, or
reserved for use via the lsmutil -reserve -wwn command, discussed later in this white paper).
Figure 19: Add Storage Pool Entry (standard SAN storage entry, no SPM)
Note that in Figure 19 redundancy has been selected for the boot volume (thus ensuring two paths to the LUN). No
storage details are yet entered into this screen; the Storage Port WWN and LUN information will remain blank until
the storage administrator creates, presents, and zones storage volumes suitable to meet the needs (size, redundancy,
RAID level, etc.). Tags could have optionally been specified (but were not for this particular storage request).
