HP Logical Server Management Best Practices

The tags (such as those shown defined in Figure 28) are available for selection when defining storage pool entries in
any of the portability groups.
Figure 28: Multiple tags defined
The tags defined in Matrix OE 6.3 and earlier are automatically propagated to HP Storage Provisioning Manager
(placed in the HP_LSM_TAG_Namespace). Figure 29 shows the tags now visible in SPM 6.3. HP Matrix OE 6.3
populates tags defined in SPM (in the HP_LSM_TAG_Namepace, not other namespaces) to the tag list managed in
the Matrix OE Manage Storage Pool screen. Descriptions of the tags are available when defining them in Matrix OE,
thus it is a best practice to define there if descriptive text adds value. If descriptive text is not required, the tags can be
defined in either SPM or Matrix OE.
Starting in Matrix OE 7.0 and SPM 2.0, Matrix OE can no longer push tags down into SPM. When using Matrix
OE 7.0 or later, the tags specified must match tags already associated with resources in SPM. Using tags within
SPM provides a user defined way to specify additional properties associated with different resources. Matrix OE
and IO can optionally specify these when looking for specific storage.
