HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) version 2.3 User Guide

complete the endpoint specification. It is used to specify Fibre Channel SAN zoning service
requirements.
Host requirement
Host is a Requirements Group that contains the sub-requirements describing access to a storage
service for a single Fibre Channel host. Multiple Host requirements can be specified when a
volume will be presented to multiple hosts. The Host subrequirements are described below. Each
subrequirement is optional.
Host Entry Name —The default name of the host as it appears on the array.
NOTE:
The presence or value of this requirement only affects service matching if a
Pre-presented requirement with a value of TRUE is specified. Otherwise, it is used
to suggest a name for newly-created host entries on the array.
If this value is not present and SPM creates a host entry, SPM generates a name
automatically for the host entry.
If a host entry needs to be created on the array and the given host name would conflict,
SPM generates a unique host name.
Operating System—The operating system of the initiator (used by the provider to determine
a host mode setting).
LUN Number—Storage must be presented with a LUN number. When omitted, the service
provider chooses a LUN number.
Volume Access—Storage must be presented with access rights. When unspecified,
Read/write is assumed.
Fibre Channel Initiator Endpoint—Storage must be presented to each specified
host initiator endpoint (multiple may be specified to describe multiple endpoints per host).
Fibre Channel Port Group—The name of a port group that should be used when zoning
the initiator for this host to an array. For more information, see Fibre Channel service zoning
(page 37).
The Fibre Channel Port Group requirement is optional, but if specified, indicates the
name of a port group that should be used by the service if SPM creates a Fibre Channel zone
allowing the host to communicate with the array. If it is necessary to change the port group
used by a host after a service has been provisioned (for example, for purposes of manual
load balancing), the SPMRezone script should be used. For more information, see “Additional
tools” (page 119).
Pre-presented—Causes the Host requirement group to match against only pre-presented
storage rather than configuring presentation on matching storage.
In each Host requirement, multiple Fibre Channel Initiator Endpoint requirements may
exist that specify the ports on the host that will be accessing the storage service.
The Pre-presented=TRUE subrequirement causes the Host requirement group to constrain
volumes by properties of the volumes' existing presentations. Host requirement groups without
Pre-presented=TRUE may configure an interface onto the volume. When multiple Host
requirements are specified, the following operation is performed:
1. If all Host requirement groups contain Pre-presented=TRUE, the result is to match only
volumes with existing presentations that match the requirements in the Host requirement
groups. The presentations of the matching volumes are not changed.
2. If all Host requirement groups contain Pre-presented=FALSE (or do not contain a
Pre-presented requirement), the resulting services are configured to be accessible by the
