Figure 6: Importing storage pools from the selected arrays
Select the storage pools to be imported into the SPM catalog and click the “Next” button as shown in Figure 7. Based on
desired use, the Matrix/SPM solution may only be using a subset of the available EMC storage pools.
Note
Storage pools imported can be used by Matrix/SPM; do not import pools (or volumes) that you do not intend for use by
Matrix/SPM.
Figure 7: Importing discovered pools
Select the security group (typically Matrix User Security Group for Matrix OE 7.2 or later environments) and click the “Next
button. The next window will display the selected storage pools; click the “Finish” button to complete the importing of
storage pools into the SPM catalog.
Upon successful completion of importing storage pools into the SPM storage catalog, SPM can invoke the “Import
Volumes” Wizard. If pre-provisioned storage is being used, the volumes will have been manually created on the EMC and
can be imported into SPM. If on-demand provisioned storage is being used, they will be created in the appropriate
storage pools (no volumes have yet been created for import). Administrators may choose to use a mix of pre-
provisioned and on-demand provisioned storage as appropriate (e.g., pre-provisioned boot volumes but on-demand
provisioned database or transaction log volumes). The “Import Volumes” wizard will display the imported storage pools.
Select the storage pools from which volumes need to be imported and then click the “Next” button as shown in Figure 8.
