HP Insight Management 7.3 Installation and Configuration Guide

Step 8: Setting up automatic event handling on the CMS (optional)
1. Use one of the following methods to configure event handling rules:
In the Finish the Installation area on the HP Systems Insight Manager home page, click
Set up automatic event handling.
From the HP Systems Insight Manager GUI menu, select OptionsEventsAutomatic
Event HandlingNew Task...
2. Enter the requested information for each of the steps, and then click Finish. Click the help
question mark (?) in the title bar for the information you need to set up automatic event handling.
Step 9: Setting up the HP Storage Provisioning Manager software
The HP Matrix Operating Environment allows the storage requests to be dynamically addressed
using the SPM (Storage Provisioning Manager software). SPM responds to storage service requests
either by matching up existing storage resources or by dynamically provisioning resources to
meet these service requests. To use this functionality, you must configure the SPM storage catalog,
that is, set up storage access rights, configure storage templates, and import storage resources
into the catalog. For more information on setting up SPM for use in the Matrix Operating
Environment, see the HP Storage Provisioning Manager (SPM) User Guide at: http://www.hp.com/
go/matrixoe/docs.
NOTE: You must first install HP Matrix Operating Environment capacity planning, configuration
and workload management and HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software prior to
installing SPM. The files installed at the time of Matrix Operating Environment capacity planning,
configuration and workload management and HP Insight Capacity Advisor Consolidation software
installation ensures successful data migration in HP SPM.
Step 10: Installing HP Insight Remote Support
HP recommends that you install HP Insight Remote Support software to complete the installation or
upgrade of your product and to enable enhanced delivery of your HP Warranty, HP Care Pack
Service or HP contractual support agreement. HP Insight Remote Support supplements your
monitoring, 24x7 to ensure maximum system availability by providing intelligent event diagnosis,
and automatic, secure submission of hardware event notifications to HP, which will initiate a fast
and accurate resolution, based on your product’s service level. Notifications may be sent to your
authorized HP Channel Partner for on-site service, if configured and available in your country. The
software is available in two variants:
HP Insight Remote Support Standard: This software supports server and storage devices and
is optimized for environments with 1-50 servers. Ideal for customers who can benefit from
proactive notification, but do not need proactive service delivery and integration with a
management platform.
HP Insight Remote Support Advanced: This software provides comprehensive remote monitoring
and proactive service support for nearly all HP servers, storage, network, and SAN
environments, plus selected non-HP servers that have a support obligation with HP. It is
integrated with HP Systems Insight Manager. A dedicated server is recommended to host both
HP SIM and HP Insight Remote Support Advanced.
