HP Capacity Advisor 7.2 User Guide

The data that is shown in the results is determined by several factors:
The construction and filtering of query expressions.
A query defines a set of systems with specific characteristics, then filters the results based on
whether systems meet any or all of the defined characteristics.
See “Constructing a filter” (page 112).
The construction of result table columns.
A query also defines the information that is included in the results table columns. This information
is selected from a list of 70-plus attributes.
See Attribute selection” (page 115).
The filtering of results by date range and server collection.
Before running a query, you can further refine the results using the server and data range
selector” (page 102).
The systems that are licensed for Capacity Advisor.
Systems with a Capacity Advisor Consolidation software license are not included in the analysis
or results.
The managed systems that the user is authorized to view.
Only systems on which the user is authorized are included in the analysis and appear in query
results.
Determining the time of the last analysis calculation
A time stamp in the lower right corner of the Analysis tab shows the date and time when the most
recent analysis completed.
Printing the contents of the Analysis tab
When you right-click in most areas of the Analysis tab, a menu appears with a Print option. Clicking
Print prints everything that is visible in the Analysis tab. This option is very similar to using the
browser’s print button and printing only the selected frame.
Although you can print the information within the tab, at this time the data tables cannot be copied
for pasting to another document.
Data collection for analysis queries
The analysis service runs each night around 3 a.m. local time using the collected data from the
previous day. There must be collected data for the service to run. For example, if you start collecting
data at midnight, then the first analysis will not be available until the service runs 27 hours later.
If you start collecting data at noon, or any other time during the previous day, you can review the
analysis data after the 3 a.m. service concludes. See “Data collection” (page 16) to understand
how data collection works.
Many of the data values will be marked unknown if more than half of the values are missing. For
example, if you start data collection after noon, then many analysis data values will be unknown
during the initial 3 a.m. service. When the service is run on the second day, many of those unknown
values will be known.
